FAQ
-
Functional psychiatry looks beyond symptoms to understand the root causes of mental health concerns. It considers how factors like sleep, nutrition, hormones, stress, and lifestyle may be affecting your mood and overall well-being. At Lumina Psychiatry, we integrate this approach with evidence-based psychiatric care to help you feel better — and stay better.
-
Yes! Sessions can be conducted via secure video visits. This allows you to receive high-quality psychiatric care from the comfort of your home or office.
-
We support adults experiencing a variety of mental health challenges, including:
• Anxiety disorders

We tailor treatment plans to your unique needs, whether you’re seeking short-term support or ongoing care.
-
Your first session is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation where we discuss your mental health history, current symptoms, goals, and any previous treatments. This allows us to build a personalized plan that may include medication, functional strategies, or referrals for therapy.
-
Yes, when appropriate. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I can diagnose and prescribe medications. However, we approach medication thoughtfully — and always discuss risks, benefits, and alternatives with you.
-
Currently, we are out-of-network. We believe that mental health care should be as unique as the individual receiving it. We’ve chosen to remain out of network with insurance companies because we are committed to providing personalized, flexible treatment plans that are guided by what feels right for you—not by the restrictions or limitations of insurance policies. We can provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement. You may also use HSA/FSA funds for services. Please contact us if you’d like help understanding your coverage.
-
This depends on your specific needs. Some clients benefit from monthly follow-ups for medication management, while others may need more frequent sessions early on. We’ll create a schedule that works for you.
